'Mupe Bay' Linoprint

from £145.00

An original, handmade linocut of Mupe Bay, a short hike from West Lulworth on the Jurassic coast in Dorset. In summer, the steps down to the bay are buzzing with life, and this print features the sweetpeas, honeysuckle, beetles and bees we've encountered along the way.

This is printed by hand from a hand-carved lino block using traditional printing techniques in my home in Dorset. It is a six-layer reduction linocut, a method of block printing in which each colour layer is taken from the same block. More lino is removed from the block for each layer and each colour is printed on top of the last. This means that an entire edition must be printed in one go – once you have carved into the block for the next layer, you can’t go back to print more. For this reason, it is sometimes referred to as the ‘kamikaze’ printmaking. This one took many hours, and I am delighted to have a Limited Edition of 25 handmade prints available.

Please note that unmounted prints will be posted rolled, wrapped in tissue paper, in a sturdy triangular recycled card tube.
