'Durdle Door & Thrift' Linoprint

from £160.00
Sold Out

An original, handmade linocut of Durdle Door, close to West Lulworth on the Jurassic coast, where I lived when my children were young.

This is printed by hand from a hand-carved lino block using traditional printing techniques in my home in Dorset. It is a six-layer reduction linocut, a method of block printing in which each colour layer is taken from the same block. More lino is removed from the block for each layer and each colour is printed on top of the last. This means that an entire edition must be printed in one go – once you have carved into the block for the next layer, you can’t go back to print more. For this reason, it is sometimes referred to as the ‘kamikaze’ printmaking. .This one took me many hours, and I am delighted to have a Limited Edition of 20 handmade prints available.
